Adopt from Local Shelters and Rescues

Bring the whole family and find a new forever friend from the pets for adoption right at Pet Fest at the University of Montana Adams Center! Visit with pet rescue organizations and local shelters from all over Montana, Idaho and Washington. You’ll find a large selection of pets waiting for a new home. Many dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and more will be available on-site. You’ll find Adoption Row on the top level of the Adams Center with many pets waiting anxiously for a new home.

Not looking for a new pet? Support the fundraising efforts by donating to your favorite cause. You’ll also find education on behavior issues, choosing the right pet and more. Please visit the Shelter and Rescue area of Pet Fest to show your support of all these worthy causes!

All Hearts Rescue
Their mission is to save unwanted and abandoned animals and place them in loving homes. They are taken in from local and non-local shelters. Most of these animals would otherwise be euthanized. All Hearts Rescue works with shelters, Tribal Animal Control and anyone that needs to find an unwanted pet a home. All of All Hearts Rescue’s pets are up for adoption, and they are all up to date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. And they are all in need of a loving home! AniMeals
AniMeals is as a food bank for animals and a No-Kill Adoption Center. They supplement the food needs of the homeless animals in the care of shelters and rescue groups, pets of the homebound/disabled, caregivers of feral cat colonies and animals living on the streets. Animeals has served over 2 million meals in the last seven years and saved the lives of countless animals. Their territory covers all of  Montana–covering approximately 150,000 square miles. AniMeals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is supported entirely from the generous donations of animal lovers everywhere. A strong network of volunteers, doing everything from deliveries to daily chores and office work, is the backbone of the organization. Bitter Root Humane Association
The Bitter Root Humane Association is a small, friendly, open admission shelter. They are a no time limit/no space limit shelter that finds homes for all adoptable animals. Enrichment programs provide all animals with mental and physical stimulation and training to prepare them for their “forever homes.” BRHA organized in an effort to prevent cruelty to animals, to promote animal population control, and to educate the public on the needs, care, and understanding of animals. Humane Society of Western Montana
Did you know the Humane Society of Western Montana has a 98% adoption rate? Last year, they saved 1374 companion pets, including aging dogs and cats and young, fragile puppies and kittens, and pets that came to them injured or ill, or in need of behavioral training. There are no time limits for any of their guests. They  provide top-notch care and medical treatment for their shelter guests who need extra care to make them adoptable. Each pet can stay as long as it takes to find a home of their own, regardless of age, beauty, or infirmity. They will have animals available for adoption at Pet Fest. Lemhi County Humane Society
The LCHS  provides funds for public spay and neuter programs in an attempt to decrease the number of dogs and cats entering our shelter. They are also the first line of defense against animal abuse and neglect, and work closely with law enforcement officials to ensure that all animals in Lemhi County are treated in a kind and humane manner. Missoula Animal Control
Missoula Animal Control promotes responsible pet ownership through education and enforcement and is responsible for sheltering stray animals and educating the public about proper animal care and pet ownership. They’ll have plenty of dogs and cats for adoption as well as information for licensing your pets. They are always on-hand to answer your question about owning pets in Missoula city and county. Thompson River Animal Care Shelter
Thompson River Animal Care Shelter helps to provide shelter for homeless, abused, and neglected animals until they find their new home.  All animals adopted through TRACS will be healthy, vaccinated and spayed or neutered. New owners have to agree to license as required, treat the new pet humanely and continue to insure the pet is in a healthy and loving environment. Working with the community, TRACS has grown into a shelter that will not turn away any needful pet, and can assure a healthy and comfortable life for the pets in Northwestern Montana.
